Policy
We built Calibur on the idea that your work should speak for itself. That means your data stays yours. Here is exactly what we collect, why, and how we protect it.
Who We Are
Calibur ("Calibur," "we," "us," or "our") is a professional skills assessment platform incorporated in Connecticut. We operate the website and application available at calibur.co and related subdomains (collectively, the "Platform").
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information about you when you use the Platform. It applies to all users, including individuals creating personal profiles and any hiring partners or enterprise clients accessing the Platform.
If you have questions about this policy, you can reach us at info@calibur-labs.com.
Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: information you give us directly, information generated by your use of the Platform, and information from third-party services where applicable.
| Category | What We Collect | How We Get It |

| Account Information | Name, email address, professional title, employer, work history | You provide during registration |
| Challenge Submissions | Written responses, time-on-task, submission timestamps, challenge format used | Generated when you complete a challenge |
| Performance Data | Scores, percentile rankings, pillar-level breakdowns, historical results | Generated by the scoring system |
| Usage Data | Pages visited, features used, session duration, browser type, device type | Automatically collected via cookies and analytics |
| Communications | Messages you send us, support requests, feedback submissions | You provide directly |
How We Use Your Information
We use your information only for the purposes listed below. We do not use your data in ways unrelated to operating and improving the Platform.
- To operate the Platform: creating and managing your account, processing challenge submissions, generating and displaying scores
- To improve the Platform: analyzing usage patterns, calibrating scoring models, identifying bugs and areas for improvement
- To communicate with you: sending account-related emails, responding to support requests, notifying you of policy changes
- To maintain integrity: detecting and investigating suspected violations of our platform rules, reviewing submissions for scoring quality assurance
- To display your public profile: showing your scores, rankings, and professional background to other users as you have configured
- To comply with legal obligations: responding to lawful requests from authorities, enforcing our Terms and Conditions
Where we rely on your consent as the basis for processing, you may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- With other users, as you choose: your public profile, scores, and rankings are visible to other Calibur users by default. You can adjust your privacy settings to limit visibility.
- With service providers: we use third-party vendors for hosting, analytics, and communications who process data on our behalf under data processing agreements. They are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
- With hiring partners (if applicable): if you opt into visibility to employer or recruiting partners, your public profile data may be surfaced to those parties. This is always opt-in and clearly disclosed at the time of enrollment.
- For legal compliance: we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Calibur, our users, or the public.
- In a business transfer: if Calibur is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users in advance of any such change.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services and comply with legal obligations.
- Account data is retained for the duration of your account and for a reasonable period after deletion to comply with legal obligations
- Challenge submissions and scores are retained for the lifetime of your account. If you delete your account, your submissions are removed from public display but may be retained in de-identified form
- Usage and analytics data is typically retained for up to 24 months in identifiable form, then aggregated or deleted
- Communications are retained as long as necessary to resolve the relevant matter and for a reasonable period afterward
You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time. See Section 6 for how to exercise this right.
Your Rights and Choices
You have meaningful control over your data on Calibur. Depending on your location, you may have additional legal rights under applicable privacy law.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@calibur-labs.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate and improve the Platform. Cookies are small text files placed on your device that help us recognize you across sessions and understand how you use the Platform.
- Essential cookies: required for the Platform to function, including keeping you logged in and maintaining session state. These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies: help us understand how users interact with the Platform, including which features are used and where friction occurs. We use this to improve the product.
- Preference cookies: remember your settings and preferences across sessions.
We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may prevent the Platform from functioning correctly.
Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously and implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
- Encryption of data in transit using TLS
- Access controls limiting who within Calibur can access personal data
- Regular review of data handling practices and third-party vendor security
- Secure infrastructure through our hosting provider
No system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at info@calibur-labs.com.
Children's Privacy
Calibur is intended for professional use by adults. The Platform is not directed at children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a minor, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a minor has created an account on our Platform, please contact us at info@calibur-labs.com.
Changes and Contact
Policy Updates. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on the Platform before the changes take effect.
Governing Law. This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware. For users located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we comply with applicable data protection laws including GDPR where required.
